JESUS’ ENTRY INTO JERUSALEM

(Mark 11:1-11)

Open it:

  1. What would you like or dislike about participating in a big parade?

Explore it:

  1. Read verses 1-3. Where did the events of this story take place? What did Jesus tell his disciples to do? What do you think the disciples thought about what Jesus asked them to do? Why do you think the people in the village let the disciples take their colt?

  2. Read verses 4-6. How did the disciples’ experience match what Jesus said? Why is “the Lord needs it” sufficient reason? What does this event teach about the Lordship of Jesus?

  3. Read verses 7-8. What did Jesus do with the colt? Why do you think people spread cloaks and branches on the road for Jesus? What did Jesus communicate to the crowds by riding a donkey into Jerusalem? (Zech. 9:9-10)

  4. Read verses 9-10. What did the people shout when Jesus entered the city? What does the crowd’s reaction tell us about how they interpreted Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem?

  5. Read verse 11. Why do you think Jesus went to the temple first and then Bethany with his disciples?

Apply it:

  1. What could you do this week to celebrate what Jesus has done for you?
