Question

Luke Lesson 75 (2021)

“LORD, I WANT TO SEE.”

Luke 18:31-43

Key Verse: 18:42

Open it:

  1. What does it feel like to be criticized by other people? In what circumstances does the criticism of others not matter to you?

Explore it:

  1. Read verses 31-34. What did Jesus tell his disciples on the way to Jerusalem? (31-33) What can we learn from the prophets about why the Messiah must suffer? (Read Isa. 53:4,5; Hos. 1:2; Isa. 1:18) Why did Jesus’ disciples understand despite Jesus’ constant teaching? (34)

  2. Read verses 35-38. Where did this event take place? (35) How did the blind beggar respond when he found Jesus of Nazareth was passing by? (36-38)

  3. Read verses 39. How did the crowd respond to the blind man’s action? (39) What did the blind do in response to the criticism of the crowd? (39) In what situations should you not be concerned about the criticism of others?

  4. Read verses 40-41. How did Jesus respond to the blind man? (40) If Jesus could see that the man was blind, why did he ask the man what he wanted? (41) What was the blind man’s request? (41b)

  5. Read verses 42-43. What role did the blind man’s faith play in his healing? How did the blind man and the crowds respond to the miracle Jesus performed? In what sense do we all need healing from the Lord? Why do you think God heals some people and not others?

Apply it:

  1. What can you do this week to respond more appropriately to the criticism of others? What steps can you take to be persistent in your prayers this week?
